"Praise doesn't come much higher for a car that turns every journey into a memorable experience. I adore it" - Roger Bell, Performance Car, May 1996.
In 1984, brothers Peter and Graham Holmes built their first Austin-Healey 3000 replica, calling it an 'HMC'. Geoffrey Healey, son of marque founder Donald, gave the project his approval but, sadly, died soon after. HMCs were produced exclusively for the German market from the late 1980s up to 1995, when a righthand-drive UK-specification model was introduced. A most appealing combination of old-style looks and modern technology, these exciting sportscars are hand built to an extremely high standard at HMC's factory in Stroud, Gloucestershire. All Electric Garages Group plc, of Birmingham, is the sole UK distributor.
This righthand-drive example of HMC's range-topping MkIV SE two-seater has the 3.9-litre Rover V8 engine and five-speed manual gearbox. Purchased by the vendor from All Electric Garages in 2001, having had just one previous owner, the car currently displays a total of c.32,000 miles on the odometer. Specification highlights include: British Racing Green-finished glassfibre coachwork, beige Connolly hide upholstery, beige-piped green carpeting, walnut dashboard, CD player, electric windows, auxiliary driving lamps, 72-spoke chromed wire wheels and a snug-fitting, blemish-free mohair hood. Since coming into the vendor's possession, the car has been serviced twice yearly by recommended specialists Charles Ivey, of Fulham, and comes with all service invoices relaying to this ownership, fresh MoT and Swansea V5 registration document.
