1972 BRA 427 Cobra Two-Door Roadster
Registration no. KHY 62L
Chassis no. BRO 13
A righthand-drive 427 Cobra replica first registered in 1972 but not finally completed until 1987, this car is one of 30 produced by BRA before manufacture shifted to Germany and was purchased from its builder by the previous owner in 1989. Built using top-quality components, the car features a rust-proofed and wax-filled chassis, Jaguar XJ6 suspension and brakes, and replica Halibrand alloy wheels. The present owner purchased the car at Brooks' Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale in 1997. Fitted in 1999 with a brand-new Canadian-built Chevrolet 350cu in (5.7-litre) V8 engine from Chevrolet Motor Sports (producing 300bhp) mated to a Hurst five-speed gearbox, this car has been maintained locally and by leading Cobra specialists Unclip Automotive. A past owner of original AC Cobras, the present owner has endeavoured to ensure that the car has 'all the right bits' - including stainless-steel side exhausts - and makes the right impression. Finished in Fire Engine red with black Connolly leather interior, the car features several rare contemporary fittings (long unavailable) and offers a relatively inexpensive alternative to the - virtually unobtainable - genuine article. The current recorded mileage is c.6,000. The car is offered with full history, detailed build specification, all manuals, road fund licence to December 2003, MoT to May 2004 and Swansea V5.
