Registration no. 4001 BB
Chassis no. WB52/23037
Engine no. 29AW/PC/H26912
A regular invitee to the Goodwood Revival meeting as period transport, this Wolseley 6/110 has been modified to serve as an historic rally-car, achieving significant successes in this role as its record in the Monte Carlo Challenge testifies: 2000, 3rd in class, 11th overall; 2001 eliminated when lying 3rd overall; 2002, 2nd in class, 10th overall; and 2003, 1st in class, 6th overall. Its specification includes ported, big-valve, lead-free cylinder head, balanced crankshaft, lightened flywheel, Austin-Healey 3000 MkIII camshaft and full stainless-steel exhaust system. Recently inspected, the gearbox incorporates some new parts, including baulk rings, bearings and seals, while the standard rear axle comes with two alternative final drive ratios. The brakes have been up-rated to the ultimate permitted specification, featuring Aeroquip hoses, and the suspension incorporates new up-rated springs, new lever arm dampers, up-rated rear shock absorbers, urethane bushes throughout, adjustable upper-arm pivots and front lower arms modified to give negative camber. A rear roll cage is fitted and the car comes with a useful quantity of spares including ten wheels/tyres suitable for a wide range of driving conditions. We are advised that the car is eligible for all historic rallies including the Top Hat and Oldies series. Described as in good condition throughout, with '1st class' engine, the car is offered with dating certificate, road fund licence to February 2004, MoT to November 2003 and Swansea V5. Prospective buyers should note that the 'Police' bell is not included in the sale.
