A pair of early 18th Century Dutch candlesticks
the short columns with two cushion-shaped knops, the upper one plain, the lower gadrooned, with gadroon borders and octagonal bases, the cylindrical capitals fluted at base and pierced with a clover motif to one side, maker's mark only to base, the base inscribed with contemporary initials "W.R" and later inscribed around the inside of foot with a 20th Century English presentation inscription, the later detachable nozzles with stamped gadroon borders, bearing an assay scrape only, 16cm. high, 16oz.
