The MB&F Horological Machine N°7 (HM7) Aquapod Green, reference 007-0100-03-000, is a mesmerizing fusion of biomimicry and mechanical artistry, unveiled in 2018 as a limited evolution of the original Aquapod line. Drawing inspiration from the ethereal grace of jellyfish drifting through ocean depths, this titanium-cased timepiece transforms the wrist into a portal for a living, kinetic sculpture—its spherical form undulating with every gesture, evoking tentacles and fluid motion.
At its core beats an in-house developed automatic movement comprising 303 components and 35 jewels, delivering a robust 72-hour power reserve. The star attraction is the central 60-second flying tourbillon, suspended like a beating heart and encircled by three luminous AGT (Ambient Glow Technology) panels that emit an otherworldly green glow in low light, complemented by Super-LumiNova on the numerals and markers. Time is read unconventionally via two aluminum/titanium spherical segment discs for hours and minutes, rotating on oversized ceramic bearings for a three-dimensional "floating" effect. A unidirectional sapphire crystal bezel, vividly tinted in lime green, allows for elapsed-time tracking, while dual crowns—one for winding on the left, one for time-setting on the right—facilitate interaction with its concentric, axis-rotating mechanisms. The Grade 5 titanium case offers a lightweight yet robust presence, paired typically with a rubber strap for aquatic versatility.
What elevates the HM7 Aquapod Green to collector's dream is its profound rarity: produced in a strictly limited edition of just 50 pieces worldwide, making each example a unicorn in the realm of independent watchmaking. This scarcity underscores MB&F's ethos of conceptual horology—prioritizing artistic expression over mass appeal. For enthusiasts, securing one on the secondary market often commands premiums, cementing its status as a glowing testament to Maximilian Büsser's visionary legacy.
