Prof. Henry Vernon Crock (1929–2018) was a pioneering Australian spinal surgeon and a dedicated teacher of orthopaedic surgery. He trained numerous spinal specialists from across the world, particularly from the Far East, Australia, and North America, which led to his frequent stays in Singapore during the late 1970s and 1980s. Beyond medicine, Prof. Crock was an enthusiastic art collector with a deep interest in knowing artists personally. In Singapore, friends often introduced him to galleries and studios, and from such visits he acquired the Chen Wen Hsi and several paintings by Chen Minfen now offered with Bonhams.
Henry Vernon Crock 教授 (1929-2018)，是澳大利亞脊椎外科先鋒，亦致力於骨科手術的教學。他培養了來自世界各地的大量脊椎專科醫生，特別是來自遠東、澳大利亞及北美的學者，因此在二十世紀七十年代至八十年代間，經常停留於新加坡。除醫學領域外，Crock 教授亦熱衷於藝術收藏，並樂於親自結識藝術家。在新加坡期間，友人常介紹他參觀畫廊與藝術家工作室；此輯收藏中的陳文希及數件陳民奮，皆是因此機緣而入珍藏。
