The pommel decorated with high-relief symmetrical strapwork studded with moonstone cabochons with a hinged terminal, which opens to reveal a cavity, on a Malacca shaft with a metal ferrule.

Originally from Dalmatia, Leopold Janesich (Croatian, 1802-1880) was a prominent silversmith and jeweller who worked with prominent houses such as Bulgari, Maison Vever, Boucheron, and Chaumet. Janesich still operates today, now led by Francesco Janesichs, the sixth generation of Janesichs.
