AN AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN JUGENDSTIL LABRADORITE INSET 800 STANDARD SILVER STAG BEETLE CANE

Designed and executed by Leopoldo Janesich, Trieste, circa 1900
The crook decorated with thick sculpted silver ribbons and two labradorite inset stag beetles at each end of the handle crawling upward on a Macassar ebony shaft with a metal ferrule.

Footnotes

Originally from Dalmatia, Leopold Janesich (Croatian, 1802-1880) was a prominent silversmith and jeweler who worked with prominent houses such as Bulgari, Maison Vever, Boucheron, and Chaumet. Janesich still operates today, now led by the sixth generation of Janesichs, Francesco.
