A FRENCH ART NOUVEAU LABRADORITE INSET HAMMERED COPPER BIOMORPHIC RAM CANE

Designed and executed by Alfred Daguet, Paris, 1907
The L-shaped copper handle with a repoussé ram's heads at each end of the horizontal grip surrounded by parallel bands in contoured tiers anchored by tiny countersunk copper pins and five large labradorite cabochons all over a stippled background on a Malacca shaft with a metal ferrule.

Alfred Daguet (French, 1875-1942) was a popular metalsmith in Paris who was fascinated by Orientalism. Daguet often worked in iron, brass, and copper and used enamels and cabochons.
