The pommel handle caged in silver-gilt swooshes and dynamic ribbons, the collar inscribed Arch. G Sommaruga 1908, on a fruitwood ribbon-twist shaft with two silver framed eyelets and a metal ferrule.

Giuseppe Sommaruga (Italian, 1869-1917) was an Art Nouveau Milanese architect famous for the Palazzo Castiglioni.
