Gebrüder Friedländer was founded by Zadek Levin Friedländer 1829 on Unter den Linden, the best regarded boulevard in Berlin. The firm was taken over by Zadek's two sons, Theodor and Sigismund, after his death. During their succession, the firm was appointed jewelers to European nobility and closely associated with Princess Luise of Prussia.

Emile Harnisch (French, 1862-1935) was a master silversmith who often worked for the house.
