His series "Olhem o Estrangeiro" is the result of a deep introspection into his past, revealing key moments from his childhood that continue to shape his life as an artist.
The expression "Piá Gabon," borrowed from São Tomé and Príncipe's lexicon, refers to those who were not born on the archipelago. As an immigrant in Portugal, Dória explores the duality of his perspective, evoking how São Toméans view those not native to the island.
Through his canvases, the artist portrays the experience of being a foreigner in Portugal, capturing an atmosphere sometimes lacking empathy for those crossing borders. His creations delve into the intimacy of these interactions, using expressions like "Olha o forro!" to illustrate the link between origin and perception.
