This painting is accompanied by documentation from Papunya Tula Artists which reads:
'Ilpitirri is an extensive depression which turns into a swamp in wet times. It is north west of Alice Springs and into it debouches Napperby Creek. Somewhere in that area the artist was born. It thus has special meaning for him and is a frequent subject of his art. It is also a fact that the bulk of the Aboriginal lore associated with this area is concerned with their notion of the qualities of maleness. This painting is no exception and the story which accompanies the visual art tells of men's hunting activities. The horseshoe shapes adjacent to the roundels show the dramatis personae camped in the course of the hunting party. The background which is typical of the artist represents varieties of vegetation. It is perhaps not too fanciful to assume that the bold design is seen to evoke a manly spirit.'
