There is a handwritten label attached verso which reads:

'The man is boss for the ceremony article which is upstanding in the drawing and which is called YARRNMULINDJI (PART OF KUNNIPIPPI CEREMONY).

The man's name is GORDJOG and he is YIRRITJA. The leaves protruding from the object are tied to arms and body + represent in this instance cabbage tree dreamings.

GORDJOG is calling the initiated to the morning dancing. The curved line at the base is both UNGORRANOR and GARNARRLARNOR'
