A closely comparable gilt-bronze and porcelain mounted table en chiffonnière by Bernard van Risen Burgh made in circa 1760 and stamped B.V.R.B was offered at Sotheby's, Paris, Hôtel Lambert, Une Collection Princière, Volume I: Chefs-d'oeuvre, 11 October 2022, lot 33.
Bernard Van Risenburgh (died circa 1765) known as B.V.R.B was one of the most accomplished ébénistes of the Louis XV period and established a workshop in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine. BVRB mastered the technique of bois de bout end-cut marquetry of floral design, as well as incorporating porcelain and lacquer into his work. He supplied furniture to an illustrious clientele including Louis XV and Madame de Pompadour.
