Carved Figure of "Old Dan Quin"
early 20th century
Freestanding figure of a man in coat tails and top hat carved from solid pine block, on self-forming square base with plaque on the front inscribed "Old / Dan Quin.", possibly referring to a character in the 1898 Irish novel The Silver Fox, by Martin Ross and Edith Oenone Somerville, retaining traces of green and white paint decoration, wd. 8, dp. 5 1/2, ht. 29 1/2 in.
