Single-board pine plank painted on one side with bright blue ground, reading "E. WALLASH" in gilt and shaded block letters, flanked by the inscriptions "CABINET / WARE." and "COFFINS. CASKTS / & / UNDERTAKING" in yellow, the surrounding molded frame likely added later, wd. 130, dp. 1 5/8, ht. 16 in.

J. Erdmann "Edward" Wallasch (1846-1921) was a trained joiner when he immigrated to Ellis Island from Hamburg, Germany, on the ship Shakespeare in 1870. Wallasch established a cabinetmaking practice in Holland, New York, by 1875.
