Footnotes
N.B.
Edwin Gunn was born in New York City and studied at Cooper Union and the National Academy of Design. He dedicated his life to painting, in lively impressionistic brushstrokes and vibrant colors, the city and countryside of New York. The present work takes a classic New York City scene and infuses it with the sunny pastel hues of the European Impressionists, transforming a subject of gritty urbanism into one of brightness and levity.
