Spiny Lobster and Octopus
Kakejiku (hanging scroll), ink on paper in silk mounts: A large Ise-ebi (spiny lobster) and two small octopuses; signed Rosetsu and sealed Gyo; with a modern double wood storage box, the outer box lacquered
Overall: 210 × 50.5cm (82 5/8 × 19 7/8in); image: 123 × 48.5cm (48 1/2 × 19 1/8in) (3).

Rosetsu, one of the most famous of the so-called 'eccentric' mid-Edo period artists, used this 'Broken Ice-Shaped' seal (with the top-right border missing) during the last few years of his life, see Matthew P.
