Hotei and a Boy
Tanzaku (vertical-format poem paper), ink and colours, mounted as a kakejiku hanging scroll on a larger sheet of paper in satin mounts with lacquered jikusaki (roller ends): A lively sketch of Hotei, a God of Good Fortune, with his staff in one hand and an empty sack in the other, a Chinese boy in attendance; signed and sealed Gesshō; with a wood storage box
Overall: 149 × 23cm (58 5/8 × 9in); image: 36 × 7cm (14 1/8 × 2 3/4in) (2).
