Edo period (1615-1868), 19th century
The small rectangular inrō fitted with a shallow drawer decorated in black lacquer simulating an ink cake with a monkey on a tree branch clutching a trailing vine and contemplating the reflection of the moon in a stream below, in inlays of silver and gold, the reverse with a Chinese couplet in low relief, fitted with a wood bead ojime decorated with a spider in silver inlay
