Meiji (1868-1912) or Taisho (1912-1926) era, late 19th/20th century
Decorated in shades of gold hiramaki-e on a black ground sprinkled with hirame, with a peacock on a rock beneath a cherry tree, the reverse with insects and autumn grasses, the interior nashiji; fitted with a red-lacquer bead ojime carved with flower blossoms and auspicious characters, and a lacquer manju netsuke decorated with a lilly in gold hiramaki-e on a hirame ground
