SIX WOOD FIGURAL NETSUKE

Edo period (1615-1868) or Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th century
Comprising a seated figure grimacing as he looks down at a mask of Okame, with an unidentified kaō; a seated man bearing a pained expression as he holds his leg while receiving moxibustion; a seated figure smoking a pipe while he sharpens a kama (scythe), signed Sukekazu; a seated boy making the akkambe- (taunting) gesture while hiding a large hōzuki (Chinese lantern plant) behind his back, signed Miwa with a kaō; a kneeling South Sea Islander cradling a pot containing a branch of coral; and a blind masseuse massaging a client
1 7/8in (4.8cm) high, the largest (6).
