Edo period (1615-1868) or Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th century
Comprising a boy seated holding a hare by the ear, signed Ichimin tō; a seated boy holding an Okame mask behind his back and making the akanbē (taunting) gesture; a man sleeping at a grindstone; a Chinese sage leaning on a staff and holding a scroll while an attendant removes his shoe; a man seated in a formal pose; a man standing holding a sacred jewel; an immortal standing on one foot with a gourd slung over his shoulder; a man struggling with his loin cloth trapped in a large clam, illegibly signed; a dark wood Islander cradling a pot; and ebony fisherman struggling to land an octopus
3in (7.6cm) high, the largest (10).
