NINE WOOD ANIMAL NETSUKE

Edo period (1615-1868) or Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th century
Comprising an eagle perched on a rock; a dark wood seal-form netsuke with a seated shishi (mythical Chinese lion); a seal-form netsuke with a braying shishi; an ebony wood shishi seated on a base; a puppy scratching his chin, signed Tomonobu; a puppy chewing on an abalone shell; a reclining cat; a monkey seated on a rock, holding a large peach; and a bamboo shishi balancing a large ball with his hind feet
2in (5.1cm) high, the largest (9).
