THREE WOOD NETSUKE

Edo period (1615-1868), 19th century
Comprising the witch Kiyohime transforming into a dragon monster, wrapping herself around a temple bell and wearing a manic expression, the bell with a removable painted insert with three Buddhist masks, signed Minkō zu (drawn by Minkō) with a kaō (cursive monogram); a compact group of six chestnuts, the details well rendered and enhanced with stain; and a kurogaki (black persimmon) or ebony study of the witch Kiyohime transforming into a dragon monster, wrapping herself around a temple bell and wearing a manic expression
