A STAG-ANTLER NETSUKE AND A BONE NETSUKE

Edo period (1615-1868) or Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th century
The first fashioned from the tip of an antler with the outer skin and hair left intact and carved in an erotic design with the phallus from the antler's corona and a himotoshi plug carved as an open clam; the second carved from bone in the form of a puppy holding an abalone shell under his front paws, his eyes inlaid in dark horn
2 1/4in (6.4cm); 2 1/8in (5.4cm wide) (2).
