EIGHT NETSUKE OF VARIOUS MATERIAL

Edo period (1615-1868) or Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th century
Comprising two lacquer manju netsuke, the first red lacquer carved with a Chinese beauty and attendant, the second with a rooster and hen, and a rain dragon; a small wood manju netsuke carved as a charcoal basket with utensils, signed Sansha; two carved fruit nut netsuke, the first of Okame and a Tengu, signed Gyokuchika, the second carved with the face of Okame, signed Gyokkō; a lacquered-wood netsuke carved as a lotus seed pod, with free-moving seeds; a brass and silver compass netsuke; and a copper netsuke of a stirrup decorated with paulownia in gold overlays, the interior applied with leather, illegibly signed
2 1/8in (5.4cm) diameter, the largest (8).
