TWO FOUR-CASE LACQUER INRŌ

Edo period (1615-1868) or Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th century
Each of lenticular plan, the first decorated in iro-e takamaki-e, hiramaki-e, nashiji, and gold foil on a ground of kinpun and black lacquer with a mounted archer, possibly Nasu no Yōichi on the beach, the reverse with Taira warships, fitted with an enamel bead ojime; the second decorated in iro-e hiramaki-e and gold togidashi maki-e with the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove against a bright kinji ground, fitted with a glass bead ojime
