TWO LACQUER INRŌ

Edo period (1615-1868) or Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th century
Each rounded rectangular, the first of three cases decorated with insects in blossoming flowers in iro-e takamaki-e and shell and coral inlays and hirame against a kinji ground, with a coral bead ojime and a manju netsuke with chestnuts and leaves in black and red takamaki-e on a kinji ground; the second of four cases decorated with sparrows by a mill stone and an overturned bucket in iro-e takamaki-e against a ground of crushed shell and black lacquer
2 7/8in (7.3cm); 3 1/2in (8.9cm) high (2).
