A FOUR-CASE GOLD-LACQUER INRŌ AND A FIVE-CASE GOLD-LACQUER INRŌ

Edo period (1615-1868) or Meiji era (1868-1912), 19th century
The first of ovoid plan with integral himotoshi decorated in gold, silver and red takamaki-e with the attributes of the Seven Gods of Good Fortune against a kinji ground, with a coral bead ojime; the second of lenticular plan decorated in iro-e takamaki-e, hiramaki-e, hirame and inlays of shell and coral, with a long-tailed bird and sparrows in a plum tree by a brush fence against a kinji ground, fitted with a coral bead ojime and a hako netsuke decorated with pieces from the shell game in iro-e takamkai-e and shell on a ground of Gyobu-nashiji
