The landscape painting on this dish recalls the 'Master of the Rocks' style of the Kangxi period. See a related blue and white saucer-dish, Kangxi period, in the collection of Sir Michael Butler, illustrated by T.Canepa and K.Butler, The Sir Michael Butler Collection of Seventeenth-century Chinese Porcelain, London, 2021 p.414, pl.4.65. During the Yongzheng reign, earlier ceramic styles were frequently revived under Imperial patronage, but these revivals typically drew upon official wares for which models and templates were preserved within the palace workshops.

See a related blue and white 'master of the rocks' dish, Kangxi, which was sold at Bonhams London, 15 May 2025, lot 202.
