PRESENTATION COPY IN ORIGINAL WRAPPERS, "Den ..., fortræffelige .../ Frøken Nielsen/ med taknemmelig Kærlig .. og tak,/ ærbødigt/ H.C. Andersen" ["The ... excellent .../ Miss Nielsen/ with grateful loving/ ... and thanks / reverently / H.C. Andersen"]. Miss Nielsen is likely the Swedish singer Christine Nielsen, whom Andersen had met in the 1860s and in early 1870s appeared as Ophelia in Hamlet, which Andersen saw on February 18 with young Jonas Collin. Nielsen 1006.
