8vo. Publisher's brown gilt-lettered cloth, hinges repaired, some light wear to extremities, spine slightly sunned, a few minor stains.
Provenance: Gemma Adams (gift inscription from Aunt Anna Maria, Jan. 23, 1852).

WITH: Another copy. London: Addey & Co, 1853.
8vo. Numerous wood-engraved plates. Publisher's green blind-stamped cloth, spine gilt-decorated, slightly leaned, hinges starting, some light wear to extremities, some light internal spotting to a few early leaves.
Provenance: Margaret Helen Pooles (ink inscription, "From Mamma").

FIRST "COLLECTED" EDITION IN ENGLISH OF ANDERSEN'S FAIRY TALES, WITH A COPY OF THE FIRST ILLUSTRATED EDITION THUS. Caroline Peachey's edition of 1846 included only 14 stories, similar to the other four translations of the same year. This second edition of Peachey's translations was extended to 45 stories and also includes the translator's memoir of the author.
