SECOND EDITION OF ANDERSEN'S NEW FAIRY TALES.

ANDERSEN, HANS CHRISTIAN. 1805-1875. Nye Eventyr. Copenhagen: C. A. Reitzel, 1845.
First series, 3 pamphlets in one volume. 8vo (167 x 110 mm). Half-titles to first and third part, general title, general table of contents. Contemporary (publishers?) green cloth, gilt. Spine sunned, some light wear to extremities, some internal spotting.
Provenance: "L. S." stamp with crown in gilt on upper cover; signature on first half-title dated 1929, partially effaced.

SECOND EDITION OF ANDERSEN'S SECOND CYCLE OF FAIRY TALES, FIRST SERIES, bound with the general title page and general table of contents for all three parts. "It was not until 1843/4 that the appearance of 'The Ugly Duckling' swept [Andersen's fairy tales] into general favour" (PMM 299). Including "The Ugly Duckling," "The Nightingale," "The Snow Queen," and "The Red Shoes," among others. According to Nielsen, this new edition of Nye Eventyr was published in 1845 with a new title page (which includes the words "Forste Bind" and the date "1845") and general table of contents for all three works. Matches all points described by Nielsen. Nielsen 428n, 429-432, 454, 455-456, 467, 468-472.
