ORIGINAL KARL LAGERFELD ILLUSTRATION FOR THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES.

LAGERFELD, KARL. Original pastel for Hans Christian Andersen's The Emperor's New Clothes (1992), "Coudre et couper les vêtements invisibles," 300 x 214 mm, black pastel, titled by the artist as above, a preliminary drawing from Lagerfeld's sketchbook, retaining perforations along the left edge.

A FANTASTIC PASTEL DRAWING BY KARL LAGERFELD, depicting the two "tailors" intently cutting and sewing to create the Emperor's invisible clothes. Lagerfeld, most famous for his work with Chanel, frequently utilized fairy tales in his fashion lines throughout his career, perhaps most notably in his portrayal of The Emperor's New Clothes" in an Ancien Régime style.
