Designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill for Goodwoof's 2025 Barkitecture theme "From Nature; For Nature," this kennel is a minimalist yet expressive retreat that echoes the fluid simplicity of natural forms. Elevated gently above the ground on arched legs, it provides a secure, breathable vantage point for dogs to rest and observe their surroundings. The suspended mesh surface mimics the supportive sway of a hammock, combining ergonomic comfort with resilient durability. Crafted using sustainable, weather-resistant materials, the design merges aesthetics with functionality, enabling safe outdoor adventures or serene indoor escapes. The curvature of the frame and the soft-textured surface respond to a dog's instinct to nest, cocooning them in warmth and tranquillity. Inspired by organic architecture, the kennel blends into both natural and urban environments, becoming a pop-up shelter or permanent haven. This design prioritizes canine wellbeing, offering comfort, protection, and a joyful sense of belonging; an elegant tribute to the bond between dogs and the world they explore with us.
