George Marrington (B.1999, London) is an emerging artist based in Surrey. He graduated in 2023 with a BA in Art from The University of Reading. Marrington had his debut solo show in October 2023 at Modern Art Oxford as part of the Platform Graduate Award 2023. He has also been part of group shows taking place in London, Oxford, Reading and online. George constructs paintings from an archive of images captured by himself and those close to him. Creating works on the theme of memory and the way that our perception of memories change over time. The artist takes a particular focus to exploring the diverse materiality of oil paint. Images used are translated from reference into a new medium, exploring subjects of adolescence and uncertainty that are present in the years of early adulthood.
