Provenance
Private collection, Georgia

Born in Senaki, Georgia, in 1967, Kopaleishvili displayed his artistic inclinations remarkably early, beginning to paint at just three years old with Czech pencils, a rare luxury in the Soviet Union at the time. This precocious talent flourished as he pursued formal training in painting, sculpture, and repousse at Samtredia's art school, before progressing to the esteemed Toidze Art School in Tbilisi and ultimately the prestigious Tbilisi State Academy of Arts.

Throughout his journey, Kopaleishvili faced significant economic challenges, often forcing him to set aside his artistic aspirations while working as a vendor to sustain himself. Despite these constraints on his time and creative energy, he persevered, developing a distinctive artistic voice that manifests in both expressive oil paintings and intricate papier-mâché sculptures. His works stand as powerful testaments to his vision, seamlessly weaving traditional Georgian cultural motifs with explorations of universal human experiences.
