Lia Bagrationi (b. 1957) stands as a significant figure in contemporary Georgian art, recognised for her membership in the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) and her influential role as co-founder of both the Georgian Ceramics Art and Craft Foundation and The Clay Office. As an associate professor at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, she continues to shape new generations of artists, while her own works have found homes in prestigious collections both within Georgia and internationally.

Renowned for her boundless creativity and experimental approach, Bagrationi explores profound questions of time, space, and human existence from a deeply philosophical perspective. Her artistic expression flows effortlessly across multiple media, embracing clay objects, mixed-media installations, textiles, paintings, and drawings with equal mastery and insight.

In her captivating The View from My Window series, Bagrationi repeatedly returns to the vista from her personal residence, rendering it with meticulous attention on canvas. The centrepiece of this collection is a striking depiction of the outlook from her studio window. Throughout her landscapes, Bagrationi employs a vibrant colour palette and diverse formal elements to create scenes of remarkable emotional resonance. Her thoughtful incorporation of carefully designed borders serves to enhance each composition, subtly guiding the viewer's gaze and inviting them to immerse themselves fully in the unique horizon she has created.
