Provenance
Vere Gallery Collection, Georgia

Yuri Berishvili, an artist from the 1980s generation, received his education at the Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Arts. Known for his emotional expression and the depiction of a metaphysically sensed world, his abstract artworks always stand out. The artist paints with vivid, "pure" colours, and his compositions are created through thousands of combinations of flat surfaces and spontaneously scattered spots. Despite the apparent spontaneity, these elements come together in a well-balanced, harmonious whole. Even in his smallest works, there is a sense of panorama, owing to the distinctive format.

Berishvili's artworks reflect the outside world and the present, viewed through the artist's emotional prism. Yet, it seems as though the world and the present have been distilled into the landscape. According to the artist, "the soul strengthens the process of creative development of an art form," and "spirituality" is synonymous with "professional honesty."

The works of Yuri Berishvili are held in several prominent collections, including the Norton and Nancy Dodge Foundation (Non-conformist Art Collection) at the Zimmerli Art Museum in New Jersey, USA, the Kolodzei Art Foundation (New Art Collection) in New Jersey, USA, the Mona Liza Gallery in Paris, France, and the World Bank Art Collection in Washington, USA. His art is also featured in many notable private collections in Georgia, Europe, and the USA.
