Nodar Topuria-Voitkevich carved his artistic legacy through refined small statuary works, distinguishing himself with exceptional gypsum finishing and painting techniques. Eventually adopting gypsum as his signature medium, he transformed this modest material into exquisite sculptures that captured attention through their delicate forms and meticulous execution.
After graduating from the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 1970, where he studied under renowned sculptor Nikoloz Kandelaki, Topuria-Voitkevich quickly established himself in the Georgian art scene. His participation in the 1973 Republic Republican Exhibition marked a turning point, earning him membership in the prestigious Georgian Artists Union.
His growing reputation led to regular invitations to international exhibitions. The artistic community recognized his talents with numerous accolades, including the State Prize for his sculpture "Transfiguration" and the distinguished Order of Honour in 2003.
Beyond his creative work, Topuria-Voitkevich shaped the next generation of Georgian artists through his teaching. From 1994 to 2006, he served as a professor at the Georgian Institute of Culture's Department of Fine Arts. His dedication to education continued at the Tbilisi Academy of Arts, where he worked as the Rector's adviser and earned recognition as "Lecturer of the Year," inspiring countless students with his artistic vision and technical mastery.
