A BAMBOO CARVING OF A SEATED LUOHAN

18th century
The seated sage draped in a loose-fitting robe with both hands grasping a staff in the form of a gnarled tree branch, his serene face with jutting cheekbones between curly beard and a bald head, flanked by a pair of pendulous ears, a thin foot exposed visible from the base.
14.7cm (5 3/4in) high.
