A ZITAN SEAL CHEST, GUANPIXIANG

18th century
The chest of rectangular form with a hinged tapering cover opening to reveal a single tray, with a pair of doors concealing four drawers fitted with metal pulls, the body flanked by a pair of bail handles, reinforced with metal mounts at the corners, the front with a canted-cornered square lockplate and a ruyi-shaped clasp, above a pair of double-fish pulls, set upon a slightly larger base with corner mounts.
39.5cm (15 1/2in) high x 37cm (14 1/2in) wide x 31.4cm (12 3/8in) deep.
