The cameo portrait en profil, inscribed with "A Brongniart" and sculptor's name, mounted in a gilt frame against a deep blue velvet, a drawing of an unknown gentleman affixed to the back of the plaque, size including frame 15.2 x 15.2 x 3.0 cm

The Twinight Collection

Alexandre Brongniart (1770-1847) was the director of the Sèvres manufactory from 1800 until his death in 1847. Under his direction, the factory went through several technical and stylistic innovations that brought it firmly in line with the early nineteenth century's aesthetic movements.
