A late 18th century mahogany striking table clock

Bearing a later signature for William Dutton, London
The bell top case surmounted by a handle and urn finials with upper quadrant frets (now filled), glazed front, back, and sides, on a moulded base with brass ogee feet. The 6.75-inch arched brass dial with strike/silent subsidiary over a Roman and Arabic chapter ring, the matted centre with mock pendulum and date aperture to blued steel hands. The five-pillar converted verge movement now with tic-tac escapement, the backplate decorated with Chinoiseries decoration and bearing a later signature of William Dutton London with double gut fusees (now running on steel lines), striking the hours on a bell mounted to the backplate. 49cms high (19.5ins)
