As well as producing the designs for Wilde's Lady Windermere's Fan, Beaton also starred in this 1946 American production as the part of Cecil Graham. "In the stage version", David Mellor writes, "as he appears in publicity photographs, Cecil's Cecil Graham became a vengeful dandy persecuting bulky patriarchs."
