After Paul Dubois (French, 1827-1905): A bronze model of 'Le Chanteur Florentin'

Cast by Barbedienne
The musician standing contrapposto and playing the mandolin, raised on an integral waisted and beaded cylindrical socle, light brown patination, signed P. DUBOIS, F. BARBEDIENNE and with the REDUCTION MECHANIQUE A. COLLAS stamp, 19.5cm wide, 14.5cm deep, 48cm high (7 1/2in wide, 5 1/2in deep, 18 1/2in high)

Footnotes

In 1865 Dubois first exhibited the plaster model of 'Le Chanteur Florentin' at the Paris Salon, where he won the Medaille d'Honneur. The following year the sculptor exhibited a gilt bronze version at the Exposition Universelle in Paris, and further editions can now be found in the Musee d'Orsay and Chartres Museum.
