A large and extraordinary 18th century elm and dark stained (or painted) beech high-back tavern settle

Probably West Country, 1730-1770
Of irregular concave outline, with a slightly splayed boarded or 'coopered' back, flanked by two shaped and partially flared end supports, with an irregular single plank elm seat, terminating in a central plain support, approximately 241cm wide; 146cm high.
