A large late 16th century Northern European carved oak figural biblical plaque

Inscribed and dated 1584, probably Flemish Brabant or Limburgh
Of rectangular form, the left side decorated with scenes from the Old Testament including Adam and Eve, Moses and the ten commandments, Cain and Abel and Abraham and Isaac, the right side with scenes from the New Testament including the Crucifixion and the Accession, together with a smaller similar period carved oak panel depicting armorial devices the smaller panel now split into two sections and later utilised as upright stile side panels to flank the larger panel, the large panel, 76cm high, 154cm wide, the smaller panel now in two sections, 77cn high, 20.5cm wide and 76.5cm, high, 20.5cm wide approximately (3)
